Ubuntu dist upgrade
April 28, 2009As you may have noticed, support for Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy has run out. I had this distro installed on my server and was wondering why I couldn't install any new packages (404 errors everywhere). So I was forced to make a dist-upgrade:
do-release-upgrade... updated nicely to 8.04 Hardy in about 45 minutes (on a 1 GHz machine...). There were absolutely no problems, only some config file conflicts which are nicely diffed and you can choose to do something about them. Yay! (I had already prepared the backups)
